The Dukes of Flatbush is a Brooklyn, NY based Motorcycle Club filled with reprobates uncommonly devoted to riding, food, friendship, running, beer, wine, occasional streaking and, did I mention beer? This is where we muse on ridin', wrenchin' and livin' in the 718 and outlying chapters.

A moment of silence for Evel. The motorcycle daredevil who broke every bone in his body, the man who tried to jump the Snake river on a ‘sky cycle’, the man who dared to dream. We’ll miss you…
I also posted some pictures of one of his bikes that lives in a NC museum. Truly great stuff..
Also known as the Silver Surfer and the Grey Ghost - this is a 2003 Yamaha FJR1300. It’s my father’s bike, but I’ve managed to hold onto it for a few years. If I’ve taken a long trip, this has been the bike of choice. It’s very comfortable for two, holds a lot of luggage and hauls serious ass. It’s definitely not a bike for beginners - it’s very heavy (over 600lbs) and has somewhere around 160HP. I’ve taken it up to 160MPH in the desert and it still had room to go. More surprisingly, I once floored it off a light and promptly pulled a wheelie - with luggage on the back! Anyway, you get the picture. Tread lightly. A friend of mine is buying this bike from my father so I’m sorry to see it go, but we’re keeping it in the family. A good thing…

This is Papa Johnson’s main ride, a Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail named the Black Widow. My father has logged some serious miles on this american classic. It’s not the fastest on the road, but it is probably the most comfortable. He rode 1,600 miles in 33 hours on this bike to gain entry into the Iron Butt Association.

As most of you probably know, Puma has a long and distinguished history of making excellent motorsports shoes for the four wheeled circuits. I’ve been eagerly anticipating their release of a motorcycle line for years and now it’s finally here.
Me thinks there will be a pair of the 800 Desmos in my life soon.
