Evel Knievel, We'll Miss You
A moment of silence for Evel. The motorcycle daredevil who broke every bone in his body, the man who tried to jump the Snake river on a ‘sky cycle’, the man who dared to dream. We’ll miss you… I also posted some pictures of one of his bikes that lives in a NC museum. Truly great stuff..

Stable Report #6: The Sonic Sardine
Also known as the Silver Surfer and the Grey Ghost - this is a 2003 Yamaha FJR1300. It’s my father’s bike, but I’ve managed to hold onto it for a few years. If I’ve taken a long trip, this has been the bike of choice. It’s very comfortable for two, holds a lot of luggage and hauls serious ass. It’s definitely not a bike for beginners - it’s very heavy...

Stable Report #5: The Black Widow
This is Papa Johnson’s main ride, a Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail named the Black Widow. My father has logged some serious miles on this american classic. It’s not the fastest on the road, but it is probably the most comfortable. He rode 1,600 miles in 33 hours on this bike to gain entry into the Iron Butt Association.
Dope Gear: Puma 800 Desmo GTX
As most of you probably know, Puma has a long and distinguished history of making excellent motorsports shoes for the four wheeled circuits. I’ve been eagerly anticipating their release of a motorcycle line for years and now it’s finally here. Me thinks there will be a pair of the 800 Desmos in my life soon.

Stable Report #4: BRP Can-Am Spyder Roadster
One of the elder Dukes’ statesment, and founding memeber of the Birmingham, AL chapter, just picked one of these up in FL. I believe it was the first one in the state and he rode it for 10 hours back to Birmingham. His first impression is that it’s a pretty fun ride. He said the steering was unbelievably sensitive. When you give fellow riders the ‘low wave’, you nearly run...
Michael's Motorcycles
I just ran across this site the other day: http://michaelsmotorcycles.com/ They sell vintage bikes out of the Midwest. Apart from having a Black Shadow for sale right now, this Ducati caught my eye. Dear lord…

Stable Report #3: The Duke
This is a 2006 Ducati Paul Smart. Limited run of 2,000 bikes made to commemorate Englishman Paul Smart’s historic Imola 200 victory in 1972 on the 750 Imola Desmo. The race that put Ducati on the map. I’ve had this bike since January 2007 and have put 175 miles on it. It is essentially a race bike. The brake discs are so large that you can barely add air to the tires. It is equipped for...
Fantasy Stable Report: The Goose's KZ
The bike that started it all for me and god knows how many others. I remember clearly watching Mad Max as a kid and being blown by the coolosity of Jim Goose & his bike. Holy-flurkin-schmitt that thing is still bad ass looking. Obviously modeled on the KZ1000 police bikes of the era, the Goose’s scoot was made by some Aussi custom shop now lost to the sands of time/fosters. Leave it...
Stable Report #2: The SuperBad
Here for your perusal are a couple pics of the much loved, (and occasionally cursed) SuperBad. 1978 Kz1000, 1075 Wiseco Piston kit, 10:1 compression, stage 3 DynoJet, 4-1 V&H, double disc up front, hydraulic clutch conversion and air adjustable front end. Love this bike. It has, at times, been known as the SuperBusted and has forced me to learn what little I know about wrenching. ...
Barber Motorsports Museum
If you are serious about bikes, you’ll want to visit the Barber Motosports Museum in Birmingham, AL. They have over 1,100 bikes in one of the most beautiful settings. Check out the site: http://www.barbermuseum.org/ Here are some pics - oh god…
